Abby’s Lawn

Abby’s Lawn was named for Abigail “Abby” Aldrich Rockefeller, a grand-daughter of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Coincidentally, the same site of Abby’s Lawn housed the Abbey Inn, a motorists’ inn (on the site of the former Hayes Estate). The Abbey Inn was located at 198th-200th Street and Fort Washington Avenue, an address which does not exist today. This area was acquired by Rockefeller for the park.
