Fort Tryon Park plays an important part in the life and history of New York City today, as it has for nearly a hundred years. Residents of northern Manhattan as well as folks who grew up here and now live around the world come to the park to revisit beautiful memories and stroll again under our majestic elms.

The lush landscape is a recreational escape for children and adults alike, an invitation to socialize, exercise, and explore the outdoors. It is a place of opportunity for people in the neighborhood to come together, relax, and enjoy nature in a meditative space.

The largest public garden with unrestricted access in New York City, the Heather Garden’s three acres are home to more than 550 varieties of trees, shrubs, and flowers. Changing selections of colorful annuals add to the garden’s romantic exuberance.
