Event Navigation

Join the Fort Tryon Park Trust and the Alley Pond Environmental Center for a journey back in time to the 1600s. Observe and examine artifacts from the Matinecock Indians from the Algonquin Nation, whose villages spanned from present day Newtown Creek in Queens to Smithtown, Long Island. Learn how their traditions, survival techniques, and conservation practices can be applied to and contrasted with the present time. APEC instructors will bring live animals, including a rabbit and a corn snake, to this free children’s program!

Space is limited. Please register HERE.

Subway Terrace is part of historic Fort Tryon Park, located at Fort Washington Avenue at the 190th Street A Train Station. Our program will take place near the ping pong tables.
