National Trails Day

June 1, 2030

Event Navigation

June 1 is National Trails Day — the perfect time to explore the beautiful trails of Fort Tryon Park! Designed by the Olmsted Brothers, Fort Tryon Park features eight miles of scenic pedestrian paths that wind through gardens, woodlands, and rocky overlooks high above the Hudson River.

Take a peaceful walk along two featured trails:

🌿 Alpine Garden Trail: A short but beautiful loop (just under 0.5 miles) through lush plantings, hidden stone staircases, and hillside caves — enter at Dongan Place and Broadway.

🌄 Overlook Path: A 0.5-mile loop that climbs to one of the highest points in Manhattan, offering spectacular views of the Hudson River and Palisades — start at Broadway and Arden.

Celebrate National Trails Day at your own pace. Whether you’re hiking solo, meeting up with friends, or taking a moment for yourself in nature, Fort Tryon Park’s historic paths offer a refreshing escape in the heart of the city.

No registration or events — just you, the trails, and the beauty of the park!
