New Documentary: “Blueprint NYC” on Fort Tryon Park and Met Cloisters!

On October 1st, we stepped into the history of one of New York City’s most remarkable landscapes with the premiere of Blueprint NYC: A Manhattan Fantasy. This new documentary explores the intertwined stories of Fort Tryon Park and The Met Cloisters, revealing how vision, philanthropy, and artistry transformed Upper Manhattan into a place of global significance.

At the heart of the program is the fascinating tale of how two men with vastly different visions created something extraordinary. Philanthropist John D. Rockefeller Jr., who gifted the land for Fort Tryon Park, imagined a naturalistic public green space designed by the Olmsted Brothers to offer respite and beauty to New Yorkers. Meanwhile, medieval art collector and curator George Grey Barnard dreamed of creating a museum that would transport visitors into the world of Europe’s Middle Ages. Their efforts, though distinct in purpose, eventually converged, resulting in the Met Cloisters—a museum unlike any other in the world, perched above the Hudson River and surrounded by gardens that echo medieval traditions.

Whether you’re a lover of history, architecture, or simply captivated by New York’s green spaces, this special offers an in-depth look at how Fort Tryon Park and The Met Cloisters became two jewels of Upper Manhattan—rich with art, nature, and imagination.
