Throwback: Constructing Billings Lawn

The 1932 photograph looks south along the former driveway for Mr. Billings — with the wide open space on the left now known as Billings Lawn.

Notice the George Washington Bridge without its lower level…

…and the elegant arcade that still graces the park today.
