Throwback to the Construction of Northern Entrance

🚧✨ Throwback to the beginning Fort Tryon Park!

Here’s a rare look at the northern entrance under construction in 1932, now home to the Anne Loftus Playground. 🌳 Designed by the Olmsted Brothers and funded by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., this park was a vision of stunning landscapes and preserved history.

Rockefeller didn’t just stop at Fort Tryon—he purchased land across the Hudson, now the Palisades Interstate Park, to protect the breathtaking views. 🏞️ While the original Billings mansion burned in the 1920s, elements like estate walls, the gatehouse, and driveway were woven into the park’s design.
