SUMMARY:Medieval Festival
DESCRIPTION:Fort Tryon Park is transformed into a medieval market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags. Performers and guests dress in medieval costume. Visitors are greeted by authentic period music\, dance\, magic\, and minstrels\, as well as jugglers and jesters. The festival includes thrilling jousts between four knights on horseback. Experience the culture of a bygone era against the backdrop of The Met Cloisters and the Hudson River during autumn. There is fun for all ages. \n\n\n\nThis free event is produced by NYC Parks and the Washington Heights and Inwood Development Corporation with support from the Fort Tryon Park Trust. \nCostumed vendors will be on hand to demonstrate and sell a wide variety of medieval crafts as well as food and drink. \n\nTake the A train to 190th Street.  The Henry Hudson Parkway Fort Tryon Park exit will be closed to vehicular traffic during the Medieval Festival. For vehicle access\, arrange to drop off at 741 Fort Washington Avenue/Margaret Corbin Circle. Most areas are wheelchair accessible\, however\, those with mobility issues may experience difficulty maneuvering on lawn areas. The dancers will breathe new life into the Isadora Duncan repertoire\, re-staged by Artistic Director Lori Belilove to the classical music of Chopin\, Schubert\, Brahms\, C.W. Gluck\, and a reimagined new work\, “For Ukraine” set to the Ukrainian National Anthem. \nIn this new work\, Artistic Director Lori Belilove and her Company pay homage to the heroic valor and grit of the Ukrainian people.  Belilove\, herself a descendant of Ukrainian ancestry\, reimagines these dances that evoke the cry\, the terror\, the loss.\n\n  \n\nBring your friends and family and a blanket to enjoy this performance in a beautiful setting with the Hudson River as a backdrop.

The promenade was named in his honor shortly before he passed away on August 1\, 2008.

DESCRIPTION:Enjoy free yoga classes while overlooking the beautiful Hudson River and basking in the glow of the setting sun! \nBring a towel or a yoga mat and water. Use your masks and socially distance as appropriate. \nNo advance registration. Arrive early as capacity is limited and attendance is on a “first-come\, first-served” basis. Every attendee must sign a NYC Parks/Fort Tryon Park Trust waiver on-site at each session. \nAbby’s Lawn is slightly sloped and there are some uneven spots. Rain or wet ground cancels the class. For cancelations\, check the Fort Tryon Park Instagram Page. \nCertified instructor\, Stacey Linden\, has been teaching yoga for twenty years and it has been integral in her life — physically\, mentally\, and spiritually. We are happy to have her share its many facets with our park community. Stacey teaches at all levels and believes yoga should be practiced\, not “perfected.” Every time we step onto our mats\, we can be just a little surprised by where our bodies\, minds\, and breath are at that moment. \nSunset Yoga is a program presented by the Fort Tryon Park Trust.

SUMMARY:Broadway Berm Beautification Day
DESCRIPTION:Join the Fort Tryon Park Trust and NYC Parks for some spring cleaning in Fort Tryon Park! Meet at the Broadway Greeting Garden at the Arden Street/Broadway entrance. Wear long pants\, sturdy shoes\, and get ready to improve the park’s ecology by removing debris and helping site preparations.  Tools and gloves will be provided but please bring a filled water bottle. \nGroups of 5+ must RSVP by emailing info@FortTryonParkTrust.org 2 weeks in advance. \nVolunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nStewardship Days along the eastern expanse of the park take place on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of each month from March through November. The Fort Tryon Park Trust supports these volunteer opportunities by underwriting tools\, horticultural supplies\, and NYC Parks staffing to oversee projects.
