DESCRIPTION:Anne Loftus Playground is one of two recreational areas incorporated into the original Olmsted Brothers design of Fort Tryon Park\, which opened as a New York City public park 86 years ago. \nThe playground is undergoing a $4.1M reconstruction by NYC Parks. Funded by Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez\, the project will create a world-class water feature that is accessible to all\, install a dynamic climbing structure\, new adult fitness equipment\, and a half basketball court. The project serves as a culminating feature in the Fort Tryon Park Trust’s decade-plus of the Broadway Initiative\, which has consisted of restored drinking fountains\, transformed landscapes and new greeting gardens\, public programs\, and engaging community stewardship.

DESCRIPTION:Drawing Onsite in Fort Tryon Park with Shelley Haven – FREE to attend!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExperience nature anew with artist’s eyes. Tour the Dongan Lawn site with Shelley and gain insights into selecting and framing your subject\, create an artwork with her guidance and encouragement during the working session\, then share a viewing of participants’ artworks. \nFor beginning and experienced adult artists and mature young adults. \nDrawing materials provided\, or bring your own favorite supplies. \nMeet inside the entrance near Broadway and Dongan Place. Bring a blanket and portable stool or chair for flexible drawing options. Limited park bench seating is available. \nClass size is limited to 15 registered participants. DESCRIPTION:Take a tour of historic Fort Tryon Park to look for fall aviary migrants with urban naturalist Ken Chaya. This nature tour will search for songbirds throughout the Heather Garden grounds and along the Hudson River as they move south during their annual autumn pilgrimage. Arrive early as capacity is limited and attendance is on a “first-come\, first-served” basis. Every attendee must sign a NYC Parks/Fort Tryon Park Trust waiver on-site at each session. \nAbby’s Lawn is slightly sloped and there are some uneven spots. Rain or wet ground cancels the class. For cancelations\, check the Fort Tryon Park Facebook Page. \nCertified instructor\, Stacey Linden\, has been teaching yoga for twenty years and it has been integral in her life — physically\, mentally\, and spiritually. We are happy to have her share its many facets with our park community.
