DESCRIPTION:TONIGHT IS CANCELED! We are sorry to report that all of the JULY 7 WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY activities\, including the movie\, music\, and yoga are CANCELED due to weather. Given last night’s storm damage and its after-effects of hanging limbs\, the National Weather Service’s Heat Advisory through 8:00 p.m.\, and the chance of severe thunderstorms\, tonight’s events will need to be rescheduled. Our priority is keeping our park community safe. Fort Tryon Park’s roads will remain open to vehicular traffic to allow for emergency access given felled trees and storm predictions. Stay tuned for details about the new date of the the music and movie and please stay safe!\n\n  \nThe Fort Tryon Park Trust and NYC Parks are launching “Wonderful Wednesdays” which take place on the first Wednesday of each summer month (7/7\, 8/4\, 9/1). The park’s roads will close to cars from 6 – 11 p.m. on these three nights! Pack a picnic\, your blanket\, sidewalk chalk\, and tricycle or bicycle to spend a car-free sunset in the park. \nTo kick off Wonderful Wednesdays on July 7\, the Fort Tryon Park Trust will present a free movie screening of The Wizard of Oz with a pre-show concert by the Venzal Combo on Cloisters Lawn. Children’s games and activities will be available starting at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. \nProgram schedule for July 7: \n6:00 p.m. Fort Tryon Park roads close to auto traffic \nCloisters Lawn: \n6:00 p.m. Kid’s games \n6:30 p.m. Latin jazz by Venzal Combo \n8:15 p.m. Introduction to the film by grandson of Margaret Hamilton (the Wicked Witch of the West) \n8:30 p.m. Movie starts \n11:00 p.m. Park re-opens to auto traffic \nOn Wonderful Wednesdays\, you can also join our regularly scheduled Sunset Yoga class on Abby’s Lawn from 6:45 – 8:00 p.m. \nIn the event of rain\, the movie will be rescheduled. \nStay tuned to @forttryonparktrust on Facebook and Instagram for event updates!

The movie begins at sundown (sunset is at 8:30 p.m.). \n“Wonderful Wednesdays” take place on July 7\, August 4\, and September 1. Each night\, we will be closing Fort Tryon Park’s roadways to cars from 6:00 – 11:00 p.m. to give everyone more room! Pack a picnic supper\, your scooter\, sidewalk chalk\, and a blanket\, and get ready for some car-free summer fun!
