DESCRIPTION:The Fort Tryon Park Trust hosts volunteer opportunities for you\, your friends\, and family to dig in the dirt! Join us to help protect Fort Tryon Park’s ecology and beauty! Meet the NYC Parks’ horticulture staff at the Heather Garden’s Margaret Corbin Circle entrance to sign in at 10:00 a.m. sharp. Activities will include removing debris and weeds and preparing the site for plantings. Tools and gloves will be provided\, but wear long pants\, sturdy shoes\, a face mask as needed\, and bring a filled water bottle\, \nGroups of 5+: please note we are at capacity for large groups on 4/21\, but individual volunteers are still encouraged. \nVolunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nStewardship Days along the southwest area of Fort Tryon Park take place on the 3rd Sunday of each month from March to November.

Abby’s Lawn is slightly sloped and there are some uneven spots. Rain or wet ground cancels. DESCRIPTION:Join Upper Manhattan Forest Kids & NYC Parks for an Earth Day workshop! Foraging As A Metaphor is a walking class that will identify edible and medicinal plants in our local parks and green spaces and use sketching to deepen relationships. Sketching plants is an effective method for increasing familiarization due to the keen process of seeing when sketching. \nAges 7-12 years old.
